Career Opportunity:

Silgan Dispensing Systems is searching for a Plant SH&E Specialist to be responsible for coordinating the activities associated with Safety at the Winfield site. This includes internal and external contact including maintaining and distributing reports to supervisors, managers, Silgan Leadership, customers and outside agencies (e.g. OSHA) and conducting investigations to root cause and training.

How you will impact Silgan Dispensing Systems:

Health & Safety

  • Oversees the coordination and/or delivery of safety training.

  • Develops, recommends and implements new safety programs as needed.

  • Performs, tracks, reports and analyzes safety/hazard recognition observations & engagement forms.

  • Follows incidences of non-compliance through investigation to root cause as well as identifying corrective/preventative actions.

  • Coordinates the activities of the Steering Committee and participates in the facilitation of sub-committees.

  • Conducts monthly communications meetings.

  • Maintains and trains for PPE, first aid, CPR, AED and blood pathogen programs.

  • Update and control safety bulletin board and messaging system.

  • Updates online safety systems with near misses, first aids, recordable injuries; does OSHA logs

  • Tracks all daily, weekly, monthly and annual equipment/department checks for completion.

  • Assumes all other duties as requested.


  • Manages Chemical Control program. Maintains chemical control reporting. Reviews MSDS sheets and recommends use, labeling, training and appropriate PPE.

  • Manages Emergency Preparedness and Response Program. Functions as the On-Site Incident Commander.

  • Responsible for all state and federal reporting requirements.

  • Managers Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure Plan

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field.

  • 3-5 years related experience

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

  • Environmental certification or experience desirable but not required.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to speak effectively to groups of employees, contractors and inspectors.

  • Ability to create spreadsheets, charts/graphs and interpret/analyze results.

  • Demonstrates ability to solve problems.

  • Has experience leading/facilitating groups and teams.
