Silgan Containers Corporation Assembly Maintenance Technician in Winfield, Kansas

SUMMARY: Repair and maintain machinery and equipment such as motors, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the duties listed below. Pay starting at $18.99 per hour. Position is also eligible for a quarterly bonus and 401k matching up to 5%. 2nd shift is available, days off vary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Evaluate Equipment in operation and make necessary adjustment to improve efficiency.

  • Observe equipment in operation and evaluate potential problems for future repairs.

  • Dismantle equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts.

  • Adjust function parts of equipment and control instruments.

  • Repair/replace defective parts. Install special functional and structural parts in equipment. Lubricate and clean parts.

  • Start equipment to test performance.

  • Set up and operate drill press, bench grinder and other metalworking tools to repair or make spare parts.

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.

  • Understand and follow Lockout/Tagout Procedures as outlined in Assembly Maintenance Tech manual.

  • Perform PM’s, which will require overtime for all techs on a regular basis.

  • Assist in training of other employees.

  • Perform all other relevant tasks as assigned by Lead Techs.

  • Make suggestions for improvements.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
