Pay: $13.96 per hour | This position has been approved for a salary increase effective January 1, 2022. New rate will be $16.16 per hour.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm
Maintains and operates a wide variety of welding, cutting and heavy construction equipment used in support of County Public Works projects. Participates in snow and ice removal operations.
Operates welding equipment with a high level of proficiency
+ Operates welders, cutting torch, grinders and other welding equipment
+ Repair and maintain many types of road construction and maintenance equipment
+ Performs welding on bridges as necessary
+ Performs welding on asphalt plant and related equipment
+ Wears PPE and follows local, state and federal safety regulations
Operates heavy equipment in support of Public Works projects
+ Operates bulldozer, large front end loader, pneumatic roller, oil distributor and similar type equipment
+ Loads and unloads material and supplies
+ Assists in operations involving chat sealing and crack sealing
+ Assists in the operation of the asphalt plant
+ Performs preventative maintenance and cleans equipment
+ Performs manual work associated with equipment operations
Participates in snow and ice removal operations
+ Operates a dump truck with plow and spreader to clear roads of snow and ice
+ Operates loader to load materials for snow and ice removal
+ Maintains equipment in good condition
+ Ensures equipment is cleaned, fueled and loaded for follow on shift
+ Reports problems immediately to shift supervisor
Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. Two years’ experience in welding work or equivalent training. Valid Kansas Commercial Driver’s License, Class A w/tanker endorsement.
