Tool Engineer Leader



The Tool Engineer Leader role is to direct and coordinate activities for assigned section(s) of the Tool Engineering Departments scope of responsibilities. To continually develop knowledge of core manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering principles to design, analyze, and improve tooling methods.


  1. Plans, organizes and schedules area activities and assignments.

  2. Coordinates area activities with other organizations/departments.

  3. Attend, participate and lead department meetings for items such as general communications, resolving departmental problems (scheduling, quality, etc.) and planning for work execution.

  4. Improves the effectiveness of the area by instructing, developing and creating the required environment for motivation, innovation and job development of employees, assess individual employee results in relation to job assignments and takes or recommends appropriate actions.

  5. Administer, enforce and counsel employees as to the company personnel and employee relations policies, departmental policies procedures and safety practices.

  6. Ensure there is an adequate supply of tools, equipment and materials for efficient department operation.

  7. Performs necessary research to maintain and exercise a working knowledge of new manufacturing processes and techniques.

  8. Prepares periodic activity and status reports and performs special assignments as required.

  9. Will be responsible for PMP’s, PeopleSoft approval, overtime assignment, vacation approval and disciplinary action, with assistance from the Manager.



  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or in lieu of degree a minimum of 5 years manufacturing, maintenance, and/or relative supervisory experience is required.

  • Leadership experience is preferred.


  • Prior experience in Manufacturing Engineering role or function preferred

  • Experience in manufacturing disciplines and standard shop processes is preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient in MS Office products
