Dayton T. Brown is a Leader in ENGINEERING & TEST \| LOGISTICS \| TECH PUBLICATIONS \| MILITARY MISSIONS SYSTEMS. We have a perfect opportunity for Full-Time, Technical Writer with General Aviation experience to join our amazing talented team in our Technical Services Division.

Primary responsibilities will be:

Understand ATA iSpec standards and how they are used in commercial, business, and cargo aviation.

Ensure appropriate technical information and data is accumulated through researching and analyzing project engineering drawings, test procedures, design specifications/documentation, and software description documents.

Develop technical data by analyzing source data engineering data, including 3D models, engineering documentation and drawings.

Be able to develop description and operational procedures to support maintenance and operations, as required by the project.

Ensure clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation is authored, and that the team is adhering to the processes and specifications for each project.

Be able to collaborate effectively with Subject Matter Experts such as engineers, technicians, and publications personnel.

General knowledge of S1000D business rules; and how project specific technical data is developed to a project book plan or technical data development plan.

Actively participate in team meetings, and interface with illustrators and production personnel to support the development of technical documentation.

Review, analyze, and determine impact of customer comments and help team determine actions to resolve comments.

The ideal Candidate will need:

Aviation and/or electrical specific: 2-4-year College Degree or 5+ years equivalent work experience in Aviation/Aerospace work within avionics, electrical, or mechanical systems, with documentation or publications experience preferred.

Able to think critically and compare source data files, including engineering drawings, reports, drawing lists, Microsoft documents, Adobe PDFs, etc.to produce technical information used in technical documentation.

Strong knowledge, aptitude, and adaptable to using different documentation software, including some or all the following: MS Word, Adobe FrameMaker, Arbortext Editor, and/or Oxygen.

Able to interpret installation drawings to author and determine illustrations required to support maintenance procedures, system tasks, data modules, page blocks, and/or figures and diagrams, as required.

Be consistent and clear in written and verbal communication skills and be adaptive to dynamic working environment.

Disciplined to work remotely, with the ability to multitask and switch priorities based on customer requirements.

Organized, dependable, and have a positive attitude and ability to work independently or in team environment.

Provide real-time status reporting of assignments.

A general working knowledge of ATA, S1000D, and Mil Specifications and how they are used in aviation.

Knowledge and ability to work with XML or SGML is a plus.

Ability to follow established specifications that adhere to the unique requirements for specific customers, programs, and project requirements.

Able to work overtime, as required.
