POSITION OVERVIEW:The Residential Care Team Leader is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, supportive and peaceful home setting, ensuring proper documentation of service provided, participating in team meetings and record keeping. The Residential Team Leader is also responsible for assisting in supervision of direct care staff, handling employee and consumer complaints / concerns, monitoring consumer general circumstances as it involves housing, assuring general safety and cleanliness. The Residential Care Team Leader will provide AC/PR/TCM Medicaid billable services. Completion of state required trainings will be necessary prior to service deliver, and on a periodic basis. The Residential Team Leader must be able to work collaboratively with consumers towards completion of goals
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Provides services in order to maintain required productivity / billing standard of 50% of the total hours worked per year.
2.Monitors client authorizations and ensures timely and appropriate documentation and billing of services by staff members to ensure MHA, COMCARE and KanCare guidelines are followed.
3.Provides assistance and support to employees toward maximizing their performance andproductivity.
4.Handles and documents personnel matters effectively and consistently with existing policies, including interviewing, hiring, counseling, terminating, and completing annual and quarterly evaluations for employees.
5.Provides supervision to Residential Care employees, assures program staff is supported and trained in accordance with policies.
6.Provides orientation and training to new hires, and ongoing on-site supervision and shadowing to employees. Assures completeness of competency-based trainings, provides support and trains all employees to adherence to applicable standards.
7.Provides direction and support to Residential Care employees in matters related to staffing the program, licensing standards, utilization of residential facilities and services, scheduling special activities, and other concerns which impact quality care and agency collaboration. Meets deadlines and ensures accuracy of variousreports / paperwork, mileage sheets, and electronic timesheets.
8.Completes progress notes in a manner that individualizes each note, reflects appropriate interventions and progress towards goals, and meets the standards for medical necessity.
9.Maintains accurate and timely documentation of service provision. Documentation is expected to be completed within 24 hours of the service being provided. Submits required progress notes / billing information in a timely manner as per KanCare, and COMCARE guidelines and contracts.
10.Ensures orientation to new residents and completes required paperwork in in a timely manner and in accordance with Residential Care policies and procedures. Ensures residents' awareness and compliance with all policies and procedures. Facilitates the discharge process and completes necessary paperwork. Completes ClaimTrak Residential Care annual update packets for all clients.
11.Ensures completion of a quarterly Level of Functioning assessment, and subsequent treatment team meeting, with all residents.
12.Provides motivation, support, and instruction for consumers through AC/PR/TCMto achieve self-sufficiency in the activities of daily living necessary to maintain personalstability in their current living situation.
13.Assesses, problem solves, and effectively handles situations requiring crisis interventionincluding documenting and reporting incidents to individual's case manager and supervisor.
14.Ensures completion of a Medication Supervision Records (MSR) monthly for all residents and new admits. Monitor staff use of the MSR, ensuring policies regarding medication supervision are followed. Ensures staff completion of MSR documentation.
15.Coordinates and submits calendars as needed for resident activities, ensuring sensitivity to consumer preferences.
16.Orders office and household supplies / equipment as needed and prepares inventories uponrequest.
17.Demonstrates responsible use of Association charge cards and accounts; includingfollowing proper procedures when requesting funds.
18.Provides coverage of facility as requested in the event of emergency, holidays, vacations, orillness.
19.Ensures that resident meetings are conducted weekly and meeting minutes are completed.
20.Ensures safety drills are being conducted and documented as per Residential Care and KDADS standards.
21.Assists staff and consumers in preparing and planning, shopping for groceries, etc.within budgetary guidelines, assuring well balanced, nutritionally sound meals are provided.
22.Maintains a safe, clean, and sanitary environment within the facility and submits timely maintenance requests, to ensure facilities meet Residential Care and KDADS standards.
23.Facilitates individual supervisions as needed, or if a staff member does not attend the monthly team meeting.
24.Facilitates monthly team meetings to communicate with team members.
25.Follows all MHA Residential Care, KDADS and any other applicable licensing policies andprocedures.
26.Provides tours of the facility as needed.
27.Provides on-call supervision on a regular basis.
OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
1.Maintains acceptable overall attendance record, to include department staff meetings, agency meetings, and trainings as required.Ensures appropriate notification to supervisor for absences and ensures that work is covered.Flexible in work schedule when needed.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:The Residential Team Leader is expected to have a bachelor's degree or equivalent education combined with experience in human services or related field. Experience in the working with SPMI population area is required. Preferred areas of experience include supervision of staff and work in a residential setting.Must demonstrate effective communication and documentation skills, as well as the ability to develop and maintain rapport with consumers, constituents and staff.A valid Kansas driver’s license and access to personal vehicle required.
