POSITION SUMMARY


Utilize technical knowledge and expertise to assist manufacturing in the development of new manufacturing processes and standards using a variety of automation and software development concepts. Work closely with other teams to improve, streamline and automate process and to discover and eliminate problems by gathering requirements, implementing process automation and maximizing efficiency.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE


+ Work with automation/operations and engineering teams to determine the requirements of the machine and develop specifications for machine functions, user interface, and quality control for high reliability.


+ Utilize Design for Manufacturing (DFM), automation, product/process flow and lean manufacturing technology creatively in order to ensure quality solutions.


+ Design automated operations equipment and programming.


+ Test Procedure creation and maintenance.


+ Effectively work with vendors to observe demonstration of systems software.


+ Work closely with operations to monitor and improve efficiency/output and accuracy.


+ Machine Vision Systems and Robotics.


+ Develop new software designs in conjunction with Automation/Development teams to meet automation requirements.


+ Research components and technology available from suppliers, determine ways to increase reliability of controls and reduce costs.


+ Work with operations and maintenance teams to troubleshoot existing automaton and improve reliability.


+ Understand and implement customer standards for dedicated equipment and participate in design reviews. Guide startup of machines and perform troubleshooting with mechanical and electrical technicians. Configure drives, network communications, and other intelligent machine devices. Calibrate machines for position accuracy and dynamic response. Assist with remote customer support and troubleshooting. Update documentation and prepare portions of machine operation and service manuals.

JOB REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE




Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Computer or Industrial Engineeri ng preferred; however, a combination of education and experience wherein the skills and abilities to perform the responsibilities and functions have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable.




Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in automation technologies and programming languages required. Robotics experience and related programming methodologies preferred.




Knowledge/Skills:


+ Must possess a strong ability to complete each of the following:


+ Read, analyze, and interpret technical user/administration manuals on automation systems/hardware and API’s.


+ Effectively and efficiently utilize Microsoft Office applications and other computer products and programs.


+ Support additional languages such as Perl, Java, C++.


+ Understand Restful interfaces or other API technologies.


+ Utilize knowledge of data structures as related to a Database (MS/Oracle)


+ Effectively and collaboratively function as a team member for projects and drive assigned tasks to completion.


+ Strong knowledge of product/process flow, and design for high/low volume manufacturer including robotic automation.


+ Testing mentality while identifying and analyzing software problems with an ability to identify when software is not functioning as per requirements.
