Raytheon Technologies Senior Systems Engineer - Aircraft Systems Integration (HYBRID) in Wichita, Kansas

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join the Avionics Systems Integration (ASI) group. This team is responsible for the integration, development, certification, deployment and sustaining of our Avionics Systems on Bombardier and Airbus large business jets and commercial aircraft through the lifecycle of the programs. The platforms supported includes more than 500 fielded aircraft for the Global 5000, 5500, 6000, 6500 and 7500x00/6x00/7500 programs as well as the Airbus A220.

The position requires technical background; the candidate will participate in the development life cycle of software and hardware integration of Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) Avionics in a Fusion IPS or Fusion EDS architecture, supporting requirements development, software integration, documentation, certification and sustaining activities for large size Business and Commercial Jets as part of a Systems Engineering group. On-site position requiring executing requirements-based testing, test scripts, scenario-based testing, robustness testing and unintended function testing in a lab environment. Support of customer lab, ground and flight testing at customer facilities is a frequent requirement. Flexibility is necessary to maximize test asset utilization.

The candidate will own the troubleshooting and reporting of issues resulting from development cycles and investigations reported from fielded aircraft, the candidate will be capable of providing internal status as well as direct reporting to the OEM as necessary.

Candidates will independently operate the rig facilities during testing phases of the program and during troubleshooting activities. Understanding of aircraft operational fundamentals are required to be able to run and support flight test scenarios.

This is a Hybrid p osition located in Wichita, Kansas. A comprehensive relocation package is available.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • On-site execution of requirements-based testing, robustness, and Ad-Hoc testing in a lab environment (schedule flexibility is necessary during formal test phases)

  • Develops and executes lab, ground and flight test procedures

  • Produces system certification level documentation

  • Owns the tracking and troubleshooting of assigned development and field issues

  • Collaborates with Collins and OEM engineers across multiple subsystems contributing toward a positive team working environment

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR

  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required

  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

  • Ability to work in a regulatory intensive and process-oriented environment

  • Problem Solving & Hands-On Troubleshooting abilities

  • Familiar with systems tools such as JIRA, DOORS, JAMA

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with IPS and EDS Fusion Avionics Systems

  • Capable of operating the test facilities (rigs and simulations) executing scripted and unscripted flight test scenarios

  • Ability to interpret ARINC429, Wireshark, and FDR data

  • Understanding of avionics and aircraft sub-systems

  • Experience developing in a DO-254, DO-160, DO-178B/C DO-297, ARP4754A and FAA/TCCA/EASA regulatory environment.

  • Experience with Agile methodologies
