McCownGordon Senior Project Engineer/Project Manager - Wichita, KS in Wichita, Kansas
Supports the Project Manager and Project Superintendent in managing the overall construction project. Takes a proactive leadership role in managing the Field Support, Project Controls, Procurement, Schedule, Budget, Meetings, Project Administration, Safety, Close-Out, and other project responsibilities. Builds strong relationships with field associates and entire project team.
Communicates regularly with all involved parties regarding project plans, status of the project, upcoming activities and open issues.
Assists with all aspects of project related meetings.
Identifies risks proactively, assists in establishing a plan to eliminate or reduce them for budget and schedule.
Delivers day to day tasks in an independent manner with little to no oversight.
Coordinates or leads other Project Engineers in project tasks.
Manages Procore processes with little to no oversight.
Assists or leads Change Order Management in Procore, including Potential Change Orders (PCO), Change Order Requests (COR), Owner Change Order (OCO), and Commitment Change Order (CCO).
Leads setting up the submittal register and continually manages the submittal process.
Ensures that materials are at project site when required.
Manages the entire procurement process.
Leads BIM coordination effort
Assists or leads schedule management.
Works with Superintendent, Owners, and trade partner using the schedule to manage and build the project, looking ahead for materials/issues to ensure a smooth project.
Assists, prepares, and manages Pay Applications and trade partner invoice reviews.
Ensures correct invoice amounts and that change orders have been included, then approves invoices to be paid.
Assists with preparation of Monthly Projections with minor assistance from Project Manager.
Assists and conducts bid evaluations and trade partner buyouts by comparing bid to drawings and specifications. Reviews trade partner bids to ensure complete before buyout.
Assists with initial budget set up.
- Gains exposure to cost estimating by working with Estimators on bids and project tracking.
Completes all meeting related tasks independently.
Leads Progress Meetings and works with Project Manager to prepare agendas.
CUSTOMER SATISFACTION/CLIENT MANAGEMENT
Expands industry relationships and takes a proactive approach to developing strong communication with design and trade partners.
Communicates independently with a client on appropriate matters.
Gains exposure to the preconstruction process by collaborating with Project Management and Preconstruction team on budgets, reviewing required work with trade partners, and preplanning operational activities with assistance from the top project leader.
Assists in bid package development.
Assists or leads preparing subcontracts by writing the scopes of work.
LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT
Assists with project engineer training.
Seeks feedback and input from associates to improve skills and processes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (minimum requirements before going into job)
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Proficiency in using Procore to manage all components of the project.
Proficiency in computer applications, preferably Microsoft Office.
Strong fundamental knowledge of budget setup, management and tracking.
Proven track record of proactive approach to issues management.
Demonstrated ability to take a leadership role on projects.
Ability to effectively run Trade Partner Progress and OAC meetings.
Proven superior procurement management abilities.
Demonstrated ability to develop project schedules and manage from beginning to end.
The position requires work in an office environment.
