VMware Senior Product Line Manager - Tanzu Edge - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Wichita, Kansas

The Tanzu product management team at VMware is seeking a Senior Product Line Manager to drive our Kubernetes-based edge computing strategy. VMware Tanzu is a portfolio of products and services that enable our customers to build, run, and manage modern cloud-native applications. You will play a pivotal role defining compelling and competitively differentiated capabilities, communicating our roadmap to internal and external stakeholders, understanding our customers deeply, and collaborating with marketing and sales to bring new capabilities to market. What is the primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?

Your mission will be to catalyze enterprise transformation at the edge by enabling our customers to operate a modern software supply chain at the edge, run cloud-native edge infrastructure, and manage edge applications on Kubernetes at scale. You will partner deeply with a set of edge customers, identify customer use cases and requirements, partner with product teams within and across business units, and ultimately define the product and go-to-market requirements to accelerate Tanzu’s success at the edge.

Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

  • You’ll be responsible for identifying and partnering with a core set of customers, to deeply understand their needs and translate those needs back into product requirements

  • You’ll partner with various product management and engineering teams for technologies such as Tanzu Mission Control and Tanzu Kubernetes Grid, translating customer requirements for a holistic solution into requirements for those individual products

  • You’ll define the go-to-market and pricing strategy to bring a container-based edge solution to market

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • You will engage frequently with customers to learn about their needs, and support the sales channel and key customers in a pre- and post-sales capacity.

  • You will collaborate with other Tanzu teams to plan and deliver integrated experiences across the portfolio. An ability to navigate complex decision making and effectively communicate across teams will be critical to success.

  • You will own the short- and long-term strategy for Tanzu edge computing based on a deep understanding of customer needs, market trends, and competition. Experience defining and prioritizing product features in a complex technical context will serve you well.

  • You will lead the product line through various stages from inception to launch to continuous improvement.

  • You will partner with engineering to drive successful product releases. You will be engineering’s connection to our customers and will be responsible for bringing them along for the ride.

  • You’ll create solutions that scale to meet the needs of hundreds of thousands of edge locations.

The hiring manager for this role is Eryn Muetzel, Director of Product Management. Eryn joined VMware as part of the Heptio acquisition in 2018, and leads a team responsible for Tanzu edge strategy, Tanzu Mission Control, and Tanzu Advanced. The team is made up of individuals with diverse backgrounds who are excited about delivering innovative offerings to enable Tanzu’s largest customers to build, run, and manage modern applications.
