Responsibilities

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Developer, Salesforce Marketing Cloud in our National Center office located in Dallas, Texas (remote/home based is acceptable) .

In this role, you will be responsible for programming and technical solutions for Salesforce Marketing Cloud. This role serves as lead developer to set up automated, targeted marketing journeys and nurture tracks using Journey Builder and Automation Studio. Additional responsibilities include building email and mobile marketing campaigns using Email Studio, Ad Studio, and MobileConnect and supporting end users in building, testing and deploying basic email campaigns. As lead developer you will also be responsible for building SQL queries for complex data segments, maintaining the Marketing Cloud data model, leveraging and training on Audience Builder, providing API and web service work, data integrations (including the Marketing Cloud Connector with NPSP), problem resolution, and communication with vendor technical resources.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Serves as technical expert on new project initiatives and participates in application design sessions. Assists with planning for and implementation of approved initiative. Communicates and interprets application requirements and modifications to vendor technical staff.

  • Designs, codes, tests and debugs complex Marketing Cloud automations and SQL queries that power journeys and marketing campaigns. Performs application development to enhance and implement application software (such as updating the data model or adding new objects based on build out in Salesforce NPSP, building out landing pages and web capture forms) according to documented methodologies and procedures.

  • Build emails using HTML and CSS following web accessibility guidelines and mobile responsive best practices

  • Develops project work plans and manages project to completion in accordance with plans which may include formulating system scope and objectives, developing detailed design specifications, and translating system function/features to programming specifications. Informs project team of status and time estimates for work on a regular basis.

  • Provides leadership and mentors Marketing Cloud Analysts. Analyzes technical issues and troubleshoots code related problems. Ensures technical documentation and project audit trails exist for the supported applications.

  • Updates application procedures and standards as necessary to record best practices. Completes and communicates modifications to user operations or documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field of study and Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer certification.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with and understanding of relational databases and development competency with designing and managing data extensions, writing complex SQL statements to build automations and extract data out of Marketing Cloud.

  • Experience with marketing automation concepts and technologies in email, mobile, social (advertising/retargeting), and web.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with technical & functional knowledge of Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

  • Proficiency in coding and programming applications in HTML (specifically for building emails and email templates), CSS, Java Script, AmpScript.

  • Basic knowledge and use of APIs, REST/SOAP webs services.

  • Ability to interact with internal customers to translate requirements into a technical solution.

Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:

  • Experience working in a Marketing Cloud instance connected to Salesforce CRM or NPSP (non-profit success pack)

  • Experience with deliverability monitoring tools such as ReturnPath

  • Experience with Pardot

Compensation & Benefits

Salary:

Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials may apply.

Benefit Plans:

Employees scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week are eligible to participate in the medical, dental, and vision plans the first of the month following 30 days of service. AHA subsidizes the medical and dental cost to ensure benefits are affordable. Eligible dependents under AHA’s group benefit plans include legal spouse, domestic partner, children under the age of 26 or who are disabled. AHA offers additional benefits like an EAP, telehealth benefit for general medical and behavioral health, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, and disability.

Retirement Plans: AHA retirement plans offer employees a way to start saving after their first paycheck. The retirement plans provides employer contributions after two years of service. If you have previous 501(c)(3) non-profit experience, within the last 5 years, at a national health agency, an institution of higher learning or a medical institution, that experience may count towards the two-year waiting period. Employees are 100% vested in employee and employer contributions.

Paid Days Off: Regular full-time and part-time employees earn Paid Time Off (PTO) based on years of service. PTO begins accruing on date of hire. Full time employees receive one paid Community Service time off day per year and are encouraged to participate in projects, programs and organizations which contribute to the health and vitality of their communities. AHA also offers 12 paid holidays per year.

Leaves of Absence: AHA offers both Short Term and Long Term Disability benefits which replace earnings if you are unable to work due to a non-work-related illness or injury. Employees are eligible for Short Term Disability after 90 days of service and are eligible for Long Term Disability after being disabled for 90 days or more. Eligible employees can take up to 12 weeks off of work for a qualified leave of absence under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), intermittent FMLA leaves and leave as an accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended (ADAAA.
