Monday through Friday day shift, with some on call required, and additional work hours when required by the job.This exciting opportunity allows the successful candidate to exercise their knowledge and experience to help guide and grow clinical and operational programs and services across the largest integrated health system in Kansas. You will also work closely with peers at the national level as part of Ascension Health, the largest Catholic healthcare organization in the U.S. Our multi-hospital system ranges in size and scope from smaller regional hospitals to a large tertiary care hospital that offers level 1 trauma, burn, oncology, cardiovascular, stroke and many other service lines. We are a teaching hospital system, providing training for a wide range of medical and surgical residencies, as well as training for medical, pharmacy, nursing and other professional students. Our pharmacy offers both a PGY1 pharmacy residency, as well as a PGY2 residency program in ambulatory care. The pharmacy department offers a broad range of advanced, innovative programs and services. Our Wichita hospitals receive fully integrated pharmacy services, as designed and implemented by our pharmacy leadership team. We utilize Cerner as our EHR, with clinical decision support enhanced through utilization of Sentri7. We provide a centralized purchasing and drug distribution system across our four Wichita hospitals, utilizing carousels and Pyxis ES cabinets. Pharmacy services are organized across three pharmacy “teams”, based on our practice advancement initiative (Am J Health-Syst Pharm 2019; 76: 470-77). Our acute care pharmacy team also works very closely with pharmacy leaders offering ambulatory pharmacy programs and services. We seek a motivated pharmacist to join our Wichita pharmacy leadership team. Qualifications include acute care experience, preferably with advanced residency training, and prior leadership experience is a bonus (but not required). The position reports directly to the Vice President of Pharmacy for Ascension Via Christi, and it manages a team of clinical pharmacists. In the role as market clinical pharmacy manager, you will work with a talented team of pharmacists to lead and grow direct patient care services in a wide range of specialties and practice area types. You will also help train the next generation of pharmacists through our close collaboration with several colleges of pharmacy, as well as serving as the residency program director for our PGY1 residency program.
What You Will Do
Manage the daily operations of pharmacy services.
Develop and implements performance improvement activities to include medication safety, medication use evaluation and pharmacoeconomics.
Conduct competency assessments and coordinate the training and development of pharmacists, pharmacy residents and pharmacy students. Develop and manage departmental budget to promote pharmacoeconomics.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations. Also serve on various committees.
What You Will Need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- Licensed Pharmacist credentialed from the Kansas Board of Pharmacy obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy required. Master's degree preferred.
3 years of experience required.
1 year of leadership or management experience required.
