Pay: $14.66 per hour Work Schedule: 8:00AM - 5:00PM Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri; 9:30AM - 6:00PM Thurs This is a temporary position at the Sedgwick County Health Department that supports COVID-19 response. This position is a medical assistant or other certified medical professional who performs pre-entry screenings of clients seeking clinic services and staff coming to work, following clinic protocols and procedures. The position serves as a Health Department Safety Officer, tracking Health Department daily total sick numbers, vetting personal protective equipment (PPE) per protocol, and assisting with the writing of protocols and procedures. The position assists with the Health Department's sampling of patients for COVID-19 testing and responds to questions from the public. The position responds to questions from clients, ensures patient confidentiality, follows HIPAA policies, maintains professional expertise, and works under the direction of written protocols. Screen Health Department clients and staff for illness and COVID-19 contact upon entry to the Health Department clinicFollowing pre-entry protocol and procedure, ask questions of clients and perform symptom check, including a temperature screeningDocument symptom check and temperature screening for all staff at Health Department locationRefer clients and staff for testing and healthcare evaluation, as neededProvide education about COVID-19Serve as Health Department COVID-19 response Safety OfficerTrack Health Department total daily sick numbersVerify PPE according to needs and protocolsResearch current practicesWith Health Department staff, write and maintain safety protocols and proceduresAssist with the Health Department's sampling of patients for COVID-19 testing and respond to COVID-19 related questionsPackage and ship patient samples for testing, as neededSchedule appointments and specimen delivery and pick-up, as neededPerform data entry of patient information into client management systems, as neededRespond to calls and emails using good customer service and listening skills Minimum Qualifications: Certification as a Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, Paramedic or other professional licensure or training which provides certification of skills and competencies necessary to complete the essential job functions of the position. OR Associates degree from an accredited college or university in a science or health related field PLUS One year of work experience with medical assessment of patients. One year of experience or training in a medical field completing patient assessments. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a science or health related field. One year of work experience with medical assessment of patients. One year of work experience in a public health department or healthcare setting. One year of experience with sample collection and shipping. One year experience in medical scheduling. Bilingual in English and Spanish or Vietnamese.
