Job Title: Operator Machinist

Department: 604 Machine Shop

Reports To: Production Manager Appliance

Job Code: 175P

FLSA Status: Hourly Non-exempt

Summary: Set up, maintains and operates multiple metal cutting Machines. Setup and operate all machine groups within the Machine Shop.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Performs own tool maintenance to maintain efficient production and specified quality standards

  • Perform all finished part inspections to maintain specified quality standards

  • Sets up machines, verifies accuracy of first pieces and makes necessary adjustments to complete set, and produce parts to required quality specifications

  • Loads stock into machine

  • Maintains tooling as well as other associated tools

  • Performs new tool tryouts and provides input on new parts and their layouts pertaining to tooling sequence.

  • Makes machine adjustments such as clutch , belts, and tool offsets

  • Keeps machines and work area clean and orderly

  • Reports material shortages

  • Troubleshoot tooling and machine problems and offer solutions

  • Observe all safety rules and supports team objectives

  • Other duties as assigned

· Capable of performing all operations on assigned machines with minimal instructions or supervision

· May be required to assist in the training of other employees

· Must be able to work a weekend schedule

· Must be able to work overtime as needed

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred or combination of related experience plus education.

Language Skills: Ability to read, write and understand basic English.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
