A Certified Medication Aide provides basic care for residents and helps them with daily activities they may not be able to do on their own. They have the technical skills needed to use equipment for the job. They are also thorough and detail oriented as they accurately enter all patient data for records. A Certified Medication Aide has the ability to perform physical tasks paired with the desire to help vulnerable patients as well as those struggling with disease and illness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Certified Medication Aides help residents with all activities of daily living, including feeding, bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, and moving.

{=html} <!-- --> - Certified Medication Aides ensure that residents receive necessary nutrition, meal preparation, and assistance with eating.

{=html} <!-- --> - Certified Medication Aides must be able to safely move patients into beds and wheelchairs and onto exam tables when they are unable to do so on their own. For bedridden patients, this may include turning or repositioning patients for comfort and prevention of bedsores.

{=html} <!-- --> - Certified Medication Aides often measure a patients blood pressure, pulse, and temperature, and then record their findings and report them to a supervisor to determine whether action is necessary.

{=html} <!-- --> - Depending on daily needs, this can involve changing soiled sheets, cleaning up spills, changing bedpans, setting up equipment, and reducing the spread of germs and infection in the patients living area.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure all daily tasks/chores are completed in a timely manner.
• Complete all documentation and residents reports.
• Report accurate data in the Medication Administration Record and NARC book.
• Enrich the lives of all residents as needed or requested.
