Responsibilities

Work Location: Wichita, KS

Key Accountabilities:

  • Material Review Engineers represent the entirety of Engineering as members of the Material Review Board (MRB) in an Aerospace production or preproduction environment.

  • Requires the capabilities to formulate, analyze, substantiate and document dispositions for production non-conformances within the boundaries of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and /or OEM delegated requirements .

  • Utilize independent, single signature authority for dispositioning non-conformances on aircraft structural components, systems, functional tests, and wiring / electrical installations under rapid-paced production schedules.

  • Perform decision/disposition processes based upon knowledge of the design and manufacture of machined /sheet metal parts, weldments, non-metals, advanced composites, and/or large-scale assemblies and systems integration.

  • MRB engineers are self-motivated and possess the ability to act decisively, communicate effectively, and demonstrate innovation and resourcefulness when exercising his or her role in MRB delegated or non-delegated environments.

  • Utilize skills in applying systems-thinking to improve the producibility of hardware and in the resolution of production problems, in improving the maintainability of components, and in resolving component performance issues.

  • Possesses the ability to investigate root causes and recommend resolution to design discrepancies.

  • Has the ability to manage projects and lead or participate in cross-functional teams to accomplish engineering and manufacturing initiatives.

  • Utilize CAD 3-D/PLM programs (CATIA/Enovia, NX/CPLM, or equivalent) to open and interrogate Model Based Definition.

  • Perform “hands-on” investigation of non-conformances and coordinate solutions with manufacturing and quality organization personnel.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Material Review Engineer or other equivalent experience.

  • DOD Secret clearance required, or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance

  • U.S Citizenship Required

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Structural Engineering or another related course of study from an ABET accreditation is preferred, although not a required accreditation standard.
