Distinguishing Features of Work

This is seasonal work at the Cowtown Museum. These employees play various illustrative historical roles to assist visitors in understanding and interpreting the history represented by the Museum. They also perform other customer-related tasks at the Museum. Period clothing is required and provided. Employees report to the Director of Education & Interpretation.\ THIS IS A LIMITED PART-TIME POSITION\ The days and hours for this position: Varies\ \ Bargaining Unit: No Union Representation\ \ **Posting may come down at any time**

Examples of Work Performed
  • Disseminates historical information through role playing, demonstrations and/or interacting with visitors directly
  • Provides information and answers visitor\'s questions about Museum attractions, events and exhibits.
  • Provides Safety and emergency information to visitors.
  • Assists with education programming for adults and children.
  • Assists in handling emergency situations.
  • Asists with routine custodial and/or grounds maintenance tasks.
  • Completion of work assignments may require the operation of a vehicle.

  • Other related duties may be assigned as needed.
Requirements of Work
  • Ability to use the tools, equipment and accessories needed to accurately portray the assigned role(s)
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders as needed to complete work tasks
  • To repetitively bend, twist, stoop, kneel, squat and reach as necessary to complete work tasks
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to perform the physical activities and skills pertinent to the assigned role(s)
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for most of an assigned shift.
  • Ability to work outdoors in a wide variety of weather conditions
  • Ability to tolerate airborne environmental nuisances such as and dust or other allergens
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates and visitors
  • Ability to communicate orally clearly and effectively
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule from 5 to 35 hours per week, including weekend and some evening work
  • May require ability to acquire and maintain a valid Kansas driver\'s license
  • An employee shall not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
Required Experience and Training
  • Some education, experience or training related to the specific assignment.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.
