Textron Interiors - NC Machinist in Wichita, Kansas

Interiors - NC Machinist



The NC Machinist is responsible for machining and tooling efforts for Interior Development team. Works directly with Engineers, development shop and management. Responsible for a 3-axis router as well, producing quality parts.


  • Analyze blueprints, engineering models, engineer drawings and electronic control tools before programming and compare results with original planning specifications.

  • Efficiently test and revise machine cutting paths or settings to optimize production while maintaining quality.

  • Effectively balance material removal rates to achieve the best throughput while maintaining part surface requirements and key feature quality levels.

  • Support tool design initiatives on the Interiors Development team

  • Reverse engineer parts to create tools and models, models must be thorough and complete to verify safety, usability, and interferences prior to fabrication.

  • Performs planning, lay out and set up procedures in machining of a variety of complex and difficult parts.

  • Develops jigs, fixtures, and other tooling necessary to complete job assignments.

  • Operate lathes, mills, profilers, drill press, saws and CNC machines

  • Grinds own tools, cutters, etc.

  • Responsible only for own work.

  • Occasionally will be required to participate in the development shop responsibilities.



  • Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification.

  • Requires the use of complicated specifications and tasks. Two-year vocational training is preferred.

  • Minimum 3-5 years N/C Programming experience, tool design, or relative machine shop experience required.

  • Hand fabrication experience preferred.
