Heat Processor 2 - 2nd shift
JOB SUMMARY :
To heat treat, age harden and perform conductivity testing on steel and aluminum aircraft parts. Heat Processor 2 may be required to perform the duties and essential functions of Heat Processor 3.
I. Works from shop routers, specifications and standard detailed instructions to plan and perform heat treating operations, include annealing, tempering, normalizing and/or age on a wide variety of aircraft parts.
II. Sets up and operates heat treating equipment such as generators, infraanalyzer, and atmospheric control tempering furnaces or vacuum furnaces. May input sequence of events in work center console.
III. Selects and positions parts in racks according to size, shape, alloy and number to be heat treated.
IV. Maintains records on a variety of aircraft parts according to date, time, dew point reading, lot number and temperature.
V. Measures conductivity of material following heat treat operations to determine compliance with quality standards.
VI. Uses a variety of simple hand tools such as wire cutters, operates power hand drill, Webster pliers, conductivity meter, power hoist, precision measuring instruments such as a hardness tester and material handling operating equipment including hand operated forklifts.
VII. Visually checks indicator gauges as to temperature and atmospheric conditions in furnaces.
VIII. Maintains close mental and visual attention to time while the part is being heat treated.
IX. Responsible for quality of own work.
X. Performs other duties as required.
Job duties require a high school education or equivalent to read blueprints, interpret simple specifications sheets, apply simple to basic shop math and understand the physical properties of aluminum and steel. Requires completion of training and certification in conductivity measurement.
Over one year of heat treat experience.
