The Support Worker will assist residents with completion of goal oriented tasks to build independent living skills and promote mental health recovery. Support Worker must be able to provide daily oversight of medication management, assign and supervise tasks carried out by the consumer, and offer teaching opportunities/support, both in a group and or 1:1 setting. In addition, if staff meets eligibility requirements for Certified peer Specialist (CPS) he/she will be expected to utilize his/her own personal recovery story and learned skills to help consumers in their recovery process. The CPS will demonstrate competency in recovery and the ability to self-manage symptoms with ongoing coping skills. CPS may deliver peer services 1:1 and/or in a group based setting. Completion of state required trainings will be necessary prior to service delivery, and on a periodic basis as necessary. All staff will be responsible for daily record keeping in compliance with COMCARE, Medicaid, and KDADS standards.Position Responsibilities: Provide services in order to maintain required productivity/billing standard of 80% of the total hours worked per year. Meets deadlines and ensures accuracy of various reports/paperwork, mileage sheets, and electronic timesheets. Completes electronic documentation in clients' electronic medical record in a manner that individualizes each note, reflects appropriate interventions and progress toward goals, and meets the standards for medical necessity. Maintains accurate and timely documentation of service provision. Documentation is expected to be completed within 24 hours of the service being provided. Submits required progress notes/billing information in a timely manner as per Medicaid guidelines and COMCARE contract. Provides orientation to new residents and completes required intake and discharge paperwork in accordance with MHA agency standard and Residential Care policies and procedures. Provides motivation, support, and instruction for consumers through designated service provisions to promote self-sufficiency in the activities of daily living necessary to maintain personal stability in their current living situation and/or to facilitate movement towards a lesser restrictive environment. Assesses, problem solves, and effectively handles situations requiring crisis intervention including documenting and reporting incidents to individual's case manager and supervisor per department and agency policy. Supervises and documents medication intake consistent with policy, assures receipt of doctor's orders for medication changes, and works with consumers toward independent medication management. Maintains the Medication Supervision Record (MSR) as per Residental Care Policy, reviews medication weekly with clients, orders medication from the pharmacy and ensures medications are obtained, assists with filling planners as needed. Designated CPS will also assist consumers in developing or suing a recovery plan, i.e. Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP). The plan will include utilizing and teaching problem-solving techniques, building social skills, learning to combat negative self-talk, a nd learning to identify and overcome precursors and triggers that can impair daily function. Works collaboratively with supervisors, team members, consumers, and treatment team members to facilitate consumer outcome. Provides coverage of facility as requested in the event of emergency, holidays, vacations or illnesses. Maintains a safe, clean, and sanitary environment with in the facility and submits timely maintenance requests. This includes completing and documenting safety drills as assigned and maintaining policies/procedures compliant with KDHE and KDADS licensing guidelines. Provides oversight during weekly house meeting, assisting with facilitating discussion on house issues, weekly meal planning, completion of weekly household tasks and assists with planning activities for the facility. Position Requirements: Expected to have a HS Diploma plus one year post-high school education or equivalent experience in the human service field Preferred areas of experience include: working with SPMI population and working in a residential setting Must demonstrate effective communication and documentation skills as well as the ability to develop and maintain rapport with consumers, constituents and staff Staff must possess basic computer and typing skills Must attend all required training to bill applicable services as required by the State of KS within designated time period Staff that meet CPS eligibility will
