Consists of jobs that monitor Spirit for all aspects of compliance with the U.S. Government rules and regulations.

Review operations monthly in order to ensure data is allowable and allocable and complies with Department of Defense (DoD) guidelines, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Identify weaknesses and recommend solutions to mitigate issues and strengthen processes or adherence to the processes. Conducts regular surveillance activates to maintain the required defense contracting business systems of Earned Value Management System (EVMS), Accounting System, Estimating System, Purchasing System, Property Management System, and Material Management and Accounting System (MMAS). Keep current on Government regulation changes, industry best practices, newsletters, media, and information that support compliance standards. Analyze all relevant program data, rate development, internal and external reporting to ensure consistent application, guidance, and adherence to processes and procedures. Document changes to Disclosure Statement, and identify and remedy any violations or inconsistencies in disclosed practices. Develop and maintain a comprehensive Government compliance program that includes coaching, formal training, newsletters, and various forms of communication to build, maintain, and improve Government compliance capability and control. Respectfully challenge any inconsistencies in full transparency and collaboration to ensure full compliance, and aggressively address and fix issues. Ensure annual incurred cost submissions are compliant too FAR. Be the liaison with the government agencies of DCAA and DCMA during their reviews and audits to ensure continued compliance.

Compliance Specialists are subject matter experts (SME) that can come from various functions that include, but not limited to Human Resources (HR), Supply Chain Management (SCM), Finance/Accounting, and Information Technology (IT). These SMEs have not only the regulatory expertise described above for doing Defense work with the U.S. Government but also in their field or expertise. Compliance Specialists typically have backgrounds that include employment with Defense Contractors (OEM) and / or the DoD.



  • Must be able to obtain a secret DOD clearance.

  • Knowledge of SAP a plus.

  • Bachelor's and at least 4 years' related work experience, a Master's degree and at least 2 years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to understand, and apply Government regulations to Defense Contracts and ensure strict adherence to FAR, CAS, and GAAP/SOX requirements.

  • Ability to work with functional and program teams to abide by and follow relevant policies, procedures, and desktop instructions for Government compliance.

  • Ability to identify and remedy inconsistencies in charging.

  • Ability to educate others on process controls and Government compliance requirements.

  • Ability to work with Government auditors in a collaborative and transparent manner.

  • Strong communication, writing and computer skills and ability to quickly decompose and analyze data required.
