Distinguishing Features of Work
This is skilled work operating specialized equipment in the Water Utilities\' automated sewage treatment plants. Data is acquired from local and remote sites via the Supervisory, Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA). Work may require response to remote sites and/or fill in for Plant Operators while they are responding to alarms from remote sites. A supervisor gives general directions in routine tasks and special instructions when changes are made in established procedures or emergency situations.
The days and hours for this postion: Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

Examples of Work Performed
Operation of specialized wastewater treatment process equipment.
Monitor pumps, chemical storage facilities, chemical feed equipment, valves, and other flow control equipment through periodic physical and electronic (SCDA) inspections.
Report problems to the appropriate level of supervision.
Monitor and maintain status of feed equipment and make adjustments as instructed by the Plant Operator.
Identify and evaluate system problems and communicate clearly with those responsible for corrective action.
Perform process equipment calibrations.
Perform minor repairs to treatment plant equipment.
Monitor and respond to computerized alarms from complex plant systems.
Dispatch repair crew when necessary.
Work with the maintenance and electronics staff in areas that relate to production needs.
Assist the Plant Operator and act as a back-up operator.
Respond to customer calls in a professional manner.
Collect samples and/or conduct process control analyses.
Maintain electronic database of production records.
Monitor day/night telephone and radio lines.
Completion of work assignments will require the operation of a vehicle.
