Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Procurement to develop and execute our Defense Supply Chain solution architecture and strategy. You will lead initiatives to enhance supply chain performance, streamline data analysis and reporting, and implement market-leading strategies to meet our objectives. This role involves guiding procurement personnel, managing executive interactions, and overseeing system transitions to ensure successful implementation and optimization of supply chain systems.
Responsibilities
Develop the overall Defense Supply Chain solution architecture and strategy to support productivity tools for data analysis and reporting.
Participate in the development of process and system changes to enhance Defense Supply Chain performance.
Execute and drive supply chain strategy and global best practices.
Develop and implement strategies, tactics, and infrastructures to meet and exceed group goals and objectives.
Establish Defense procurement policies and procedures to guide supply chain management towards long-term business objectives.
Lead and guide supply chain personnel on business impact and supply market complexity, ensuring successful implementation and optimization of supply chain systems.
Create new commodity categories specific to defense sourcing.
Coach procurement personnel on supply chain initiatives, approve optimal sourcing strategies, and ensure stakeholder buy-in.
Oversee the implementation of process and system changes, managing the transition from old to new systems.
Manage day-to-day interactions with executive clients and sponsors.
Evaluate proposal submissions, identify risks, develop negotiation plans, negotiate, and prepare subcontract files in compliance with principles and operating practices.
Provide input and guidance into staffing, participate in recruitment and retention activities, and support teams.
Collaborate with other Supply Chain directors and managers to establish strategic plans and objectives.
Develop and present higher leadership briefings, gather data, and analyze reports.
Lead complex efforts under limited direction while achieving impactful results.
Essential Skills
10+ years of procurement experience in the defense sector.
Experience with demonstrated leadership and people management skills.
Solid understanding of procurement principles, policies, procedures, and regulations.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, make timely decisions, and display strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate with multiple levels internally and externally.
Highly analytical approach to problem solving.
Ability to maintain an organized workload and attention to detail.
Excellent business acumen, problem solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Master’s Degree with a minimum of 6+ years of experience in supply chain management, including purchasing and procurement in the defense sector.
Advanced Degree and/or Professional Certifications (CPSM, CSCP, CFCM, CPCM).
Aerospace and defense experience.
Fully proficient in FARS/DFARS.
Understanding of technical, manufacturing, or supply chain requirements for platforms or systems delivered to US Government and International customers.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85.00 - $90.00
