POSITION TITLE: Director, eClinical Technology
REPORTS TO: Vice President, Data Operations or Designee
To provide strategic leadership for the evaluation of eClinical technology as it relates to IQVIA Biotech operations in general and Data Operations specifically. To assist with cross-functional implementation and training related to chosen technologies. To assure that IQVIA Biotech is on the cutting edge of technology awareness and to support Data Operations and Business Development in leveraging this IQVIA Biotech technology expertise as a market differentiator.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General TechnologyResponsible for the identification, assessment, and recommendation of software and standards required for support of IQVIA Biotech Data OperationsAssist with the coordination of cross-functional efforts to standardize IQVIA Biotech business practices that increase company competitivenessProvide input into and oversee the execution of Computer Systems Validation as it relates to relevant technologies
Vendor ManagementParticipate in professional organizations, conferences and meetings.Create and manage the governance charter for Data Operation vendors.Streamline communication path(s) for issue escalation with data operations vendors
Business Development supportParticipate in the design, development and presentation of materials related to eClinical technologies products and vendors.Identify business development and "add-on" sales opportunities related to technology
Contracting/BillingParticipate in defining standard scope of work and contract text for Data Operation vendors Ensure vendor adherence to contract terms and ensure that contract terms appropriately link performance to compensationAssist IQVIA Biotech project teams with the review and execution of relevant vendor contracts.Assists with retrieval of unearned study costs advanced to vendors
Project team support/ TrainingWork with project teams to assure quality, timeliness and deliveryCommunicate to project team risk factors that may jeopardize the success of a deliverableCollaborate with IQVIA Biotech Training to develop materials needed for customized technology training
Strategic LeadershipEvaluate new technologies and advises management on risk / benefit and applicationLeads technology-related initiatives to meet business goalsCollaborates with IT and key stakeholders across larger organization to optimize processes around technology use and share lessons learnedSupports implementation of DCT offering
OtherWrite and distribute performance reviews for direct reports; review and approve performance reviews for other subordinate staffCreate and implement new processes where needed to improve efficiencyAssist with QA vendor qualifications (and re-qualifications)Perform additional duties as assigned by management
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Experience with business planning, budgeting and cost control.
Understand the business issues and data challenges of the organization and industry and provide solutions for issues and challenges.
Demonstrated ability to form strong working relationships across functional boundaries
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and negotiation skills
Excellent ability to educate non-technical clients and internal users on eClinical technology concepts and operations.
Excellent ability to write clear and concise instructions, action plans, procedures and status reports.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as requested (up to 25%).
CRITICAL JOB FUNCTIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH ADA CRITERIA:
- Very little physical effort required to perform normal job duties
MINIMUM RECRUITMENT STANDARDS:
Bachelor's degree in one of the life sciences, or equivalent knowledge and experience, and
10 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry and/or contract research organization, and
5 years supervisory experience, and
5 years working in the evaluation and/or implementation of technology in the clinical research industry.
This position is classified as exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act; employees are not eligible for overtime compensation.
