This position will be in the Wichita, KS plant and will report to the Engineering Manager A/C. Responsibilities of the Intern Design Engineer are supporting Product Development, Production and Customer Service.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIncludes the following:Comprehension of the ECO process and following changes through the system and overseeing the first production run to complete the process.Understands the concepts of Design for Manufacturing and the ability to implement this in all projects being conducted.Ability to work alone or with little direction to perform the required task(s) at hand.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Identifying top warranty issues, create and implement a plan to reduce the warranty cost. Collaborates with the different departments to identify and troubleshoot problems.Ability to make decisions quickly in order to maintain project schedules.Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours a week. Each period of work should be in 4-hour minimum increments.Performs other related duties as assigned to support the organization.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEThe candidate should be in their late sophomore or early junior year in pursuing their bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field (from an ABET accredited university).Mechanical/Electrical aptitude and problem-solving skills.COMPUTER SKILLS Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.Proficient computer skills and ability to learn required systems that are utilized to be successful in this position, such as SolidWorks CAD software.LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, communication skills, multitasking abilities, and the ability to communicate written and orally.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions and percentages, and the aptitude for detailed investigation of results.REASONING ABILITIESAbility to identify and describe practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
