Responsible for full implementation of recruitment efforts for the Division of Corrections positions; specifically for Corrections Officers positions but not exclusive of other specialized positions within the DOC.
Recruitment- Responsible for managing all aspects of the recruitment process, from sourcing to attracting talent. Attending colleges and community career fairs (some out of town travel), facilitates recruitment meetings, networks with community partners, maintains DOC recruitment handout/flyers, partnering with senior managers to determine staffing needs, reviewing applications and making quarterly recommendations to the division managers. Orders recruitment supplies and visual aids. Maintains memberships and affiliations with trade/professional organizations related to Corrections. Works with managers to ensure compliance with all state regulations on hiring qualified applicants.
Onboarding – Responsible for working with managers and supervisors to ensure best practices for onboarding process for new Correction Officers. Establishes rapport with all new hires after 30 days of employment on their transition and onboarding process. May be asked to participate in the interviewing process.
Data – Collects and maintains data on the hiring process, retention, DOC hiring profiles, and completes annual and quarterly reports.
Minimum Qualifications: Facility staff shall be at least twenty-one (21) years of age with a minimum of three (3) years age difference between the staff member and the oldest client who can be admitted to the facility. Minimum of three (3) earned college credits in adolescent development, psychology, criminal justice or a related subject. Transcript verifying education credits is required. Valid Driver’s License. Personal vehicle for use when county vehicle is not available (employee reimbursement is provided by County). Proof of liability insurance on personal vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications: Associate of Arts (AA) degree with related course work in criminal justice, psychology, sociology or related field. Transcript verifying education credits is required. Bilingual (English/Spanish).
