Job Summary and Qualifications

Responsible for assisting in the supervision and delivery of consistent services and care of the patient who presents with or develops sepsis during their hospitalization at Wesley Medical Center or Wesley Woodlawn Hospital & ER. Assists in the organization of services and systems necessary, allowing and structuring a multidisciplinary approach in accordance with evidence-based care practices supported by literature. Serves as a resource in the clinical care of the patient with sepsis in collaboration with intensivists, hospitalists, and other care providers. Reviews, aggregates patient specific data, and care management for all sepsis patients, documenting care and responses, using data analysis tools to improve care. Provides a mechanism for the ongoing coordination of care among disciplines. Supports the organization's vision and mission statements. Utilizes knowledge of patient's age, cultural background, and social mores in the provision and planning of patient care. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care. This position reports directly to the Sepsis Program Manager.

What qualifications you will need:

Required Registration, Licensure and/or Certification

  • Current Licensure in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Current Multi-State Licensure as a Registered Nurse with the ability to obtain a Kansas Registered Nurse license within 90 days of start date

  • Current Basic Life Support(BLS)verification course through American Heart Assoc. or American Red Cross - Healthcare Provider CPR

Preferred Registration, Licensure and/or Certification

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support(ACLS) verification

Required Education or Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Preferred Education or Experience

  • Masters of Science in Nursing

  • Experience running project or programs, managing multidisciplinary teams, or working on process improvement committees or councils

  • Experience caring for sepsis patients

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Procurement, application, and evaluation of nationally published evidence directed toward the improvement of patient care.

  • Clear understanding of pathologic processes of the critically ill patient with sepsis.

  • Meeting and exceeding core measures and other nationally reported processes.

  • Proactive care to prevent CAUTI,CLABSI, SSI, and other hospital acquired conditions.

  • MediTech documentation

  • Statistical analysis and presentation.
