What you will do




At Johnson Controls, a Global 500 corporation, we are dedicated to powering our customers’ missions through product innovation and world class manufacturing processes. We have an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic and growth oriented Lean/CI Manager at our 1.2 million square foot facility in Wichita, KS. In this critical and highly visible role, you will lead and direct the CI and training team (6 direct reports) during deployment of Hoshin Kanri, Lean principles and structured problem-solving methodologies. In this fast-paced environment, you will be a major influence and have significant impact on improving safety, quality, delivery and productivity, while substantially reducing conversion costs.



You will lead and direct the Continuous Improvement team for one of the largest manufacturing plants for Johnson Controls in the world. In this fast-paced environment, you will be a major influence and have significant impact on the efficiency, safety and quality achieved in our 1M+ square foot continuous flow manufacturing facility. This role is a key position within the plant staff ad is responsible for the delivery of process innovation and continuous improvement initiatives across multi-jurisdictions. You will play an important role in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and sustainable change.



How you will do it


+ Identify and deliver improvement activity across the business through employing process improvement methodologies and the application of innovative thinking


+ Works with key business stakeholders, and other JCI ‘LEAN champions’, to build a continuous improvement environment


+ Assists in the development and implementation of a ‘best-in-class’ continuous improvement strategy


+ Takes ownership of change initiatives from evolution/efficiency identification through to project delivery


+ Ensures the business impact and project objectives/dependencies are identified, reported on and managed at all times


+ Acts as a catalyst for establishing and maintaining material flow and presentation


+ Drives and supports the Johnson Controls Manufacturing System (JCMS) throughout the operation


+ Supports creation and distribution of Continuous Improvement metrics.


+ Completes post implementation reviews to ensure successful delivery has been achieved and sustained. Ensures that improvements can be made for future projects


+ Other duties may be assigned.


What we look for



Required


+ Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent combined education and experience.


+ 2+ years’ experience in the application of lean principles, and statistical tools and methods.


+ 3+ years’ management experience.


+ Experience of hands-on implementation of continuous improvement programs and Lean solutions


+ Experience of designing remediation plans to address productivity and efficiency issues, and track record of following through to ensure closure


+ Strong analytical, project and product management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into operational requirements


+ Strong interpersonal skills and decision-making abilities.


+ Effective and professional communication and organization skills.


+ Ability to exercise influence without authority.


+ Ability to think strategically, envision future states and create change.
