Aerotek CNC Machinist in Wichita, Kansas

Description:

5 Axis CNC Machinist/Operator (1st & 2nd shift)

Set up and operate a variety of 5 & 3 axis machines, cutters, and work holding tools to produce precision parts. Includes reading and understanding the function of precision instruments to verify product conformance.

Position Responsibilities

Calculate dimensions or tolerances, using instruments such as micrometers or calipers and portable CMM or FARO.

Machine parts to specifications, using 5 & 3 axis machines

Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.

Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines per set up documentation.

Measure, examine, or test completed parts to check for defects and ensure conformance to customer using precision instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and faro arms.

Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.

Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.

Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine product conformance

Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency.

Diagnose machine tool malfunctions to determine need for adjustments or repairs.

Confirm with engineering, supervisory, or inspection personnel to verify technical information.

Fit and assemble fixtures and cutters to make or repair customer product.

Dispose of scrap or waste material in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.

Separate scrap waste and related materials for reuse, recycling, or disposal.

Evaluate machining procedures and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency or adaptability per Kaizen process.

Operation Monitoring Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.

Operation and Control Controlling operations of equipment or systems.

Programming Writing computer programs for various purposes.

Quality Control Analysis Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.

Troubleshooting Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or equivalent

1-2 years of running 3,4, and 5 axis numerical control machines preferred

Skills:

Mazak, 4 Axis, 5 Axis, Set-up, g&m codes, Fanuc Controls, Haas Controls, haas mill, height gauges, Micrometers, Calipers, Deburring Parts, Smooth X Controls, Vortex i-630V

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Breakdown of Production shifts

1st: Monday-Thursday 6am-4:30pm

2nd shift: Monday- Thursday 4:15pm-2:45am

3rd shift: Friday-Sunday 4am-4:30pm (If the employee works all 3 full days they receive an extra 4 hours as comp time)

All new employees will go through training for roughly 6-8 weeks before moving to the off shift of 2nd or 3rd. This is so they can learn our processes.

I would say right now we need to fill about 5 CNC machining positions

Supervisors of those areas conduct the interviews, they discuss with the Production/Quality manager and then I meet with the Production Manager/Quality Manager to make the offers.
