Posting Number: 19-00321-UP/FA Post Position Title: Flight Test Engineer Position Number: Consultant - Non-Employee Full Time **Summary of Responsibilities** * Oversee and confirm test aircraft configuration for flight tests, including testing instrumentation. * Perform technical review and processing of specific aircraft test planning documents, special instructions and test limitations. * Record and interpret test data. * Generate test plans with aerospace engineers specializing in certification and acceptance, and guide them through approval processes. * Undertake flight test activities, test planning, test hazard analysis, test readiness, and safety reviews. * Generate flight test cards using scheduled test plans, article limits, flight clearances, weather, flight test instrumentation, equipment, conformity, and other program documents and procedures. * Plan flight tests, including selecting appropriate conditions, configurations, loadings, and concurrent testing. * Determine go/no-go requirements for successful completion of testing, including weather, flight test instrumentation, and aircraft system serviceability. * Conduct pre- and post-flight briefings, as well as other technical-based briefings to Flight Operations and other company personnel. * Work with certification authorities, including Transport Canada, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). **Minimum Education** Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Aerospace Engineering or a related field by hire date **Minimum Experience** * 5 years of post-bachelor, progressive developmental flight test experience. * Experience with the following: Serving as a flight test conductor in an airborne environment and in telemetryâ„¢ for missions up to high risk; Working with certification authorities, including Transport Canada, FAA and EASA; Modern flight test instrumentation for certification flight test activities; and Interpreting weather conditions in line with required test activities. **Knowledge, skills and abilities** * Travel up to 25% of the time is required. * Professional and diplomatic demeanor * Strong sense of accountability and integrity * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Time management skills to support multiple concurrent projects * Proficient in use of standard Microsoft Office programs **Required Licenses, Certificates & Registrations** Must have or be able to obtain a FAA Class 3 Medical Certificate or foreign equivalent **Additional Information** All employees of Wichita State University are expected to support the WSU Vision, Mission and Values and foster an environment of diversity in culture, thought and experience.
