Role and Responsibilities
This specific opening requires the ability to identify, plan, prepare, facilitate, track and oversee company and regulatory authority requirements and deliverables for airplane certification projects and related regulatory issues. Ability to coordinate with engineering, quality, operations, supplier management and regulatory designees to successfully lead program certification efforts to meet FAA and international regulatory requirements, as applicable. Ability to coordinate the people and information necessary to establish company position on proposed, new, and amended federal aviation regulations.
The successful applicant must be able to show past experience working aircraft related certification projects and working with customers, suppliers, test labs, and/or regulatory authorities to ensure regulatory compliance in support of airplane type certification. Candidates must have knowledge of regulations regarding aircraft structure, propulsion systems, and/or air vehicle installation. Candidate must have knowledge and experience with certification testing.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Responsibilities include organizing and leading efforts of various groups and technical disciplines to identify and document certification requirements, preparing and/or reviewing and editing certification plans, test plans, test procedures, test reports, compliance reports, and other related certification documents and forms. It will also involve assisting with program level planning, including certification milestone scheduling, preparing certification metrics and visibility to support management & leadership meetings, as well as other tasks involving process development, training and mentoring others.
Some domestic and/or international business travel may be required.
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities:
Assuring compliance with FAA/EASA regulations, policy, guidance and directives.
Responsible for successfully completing certification related deliverables on programs.
Work with FAA/EASA designees and program engineering teams to develop certification plans, provide compliance deliverables, conduct certification testing, perform conformity inspections, and meet other applicable regulatory requirements.
Assist with program planning, including certification milestone scheduling, and preparing certification related metrics and visibility charts to support management.
Preparation of project certification summary reports providing a detailed overview of regulatory compliance.
Provides technical review of documentation for certification projects.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering or other related course of study from an ABET accredited program
Bachelors degree in an engineering field with 2-4 years of experience or Masters degree with 0-2 years of experience.
Preferred Experience:
Experienced in leading or being an active participant in FAA/EASA certification projects, including ODA (or DAS / DOA) projects (TC, STC, and/or Amended TC or STC).
Experienced in aircraft certification flight testing, ground testing, and/or lab testing.
Experience in preparing test plans, test procedures, and reports.
Experience in environmental testing (D0160 testing or Fire testing AC20-135)
Designated Engineering Representative (DER) and/or ODA Engineering Unit Member.
Experience in a dynamic high paced environment, flexibility and multitasking
Experience in a lab or test house setting
Energetic and willingness to learn
Determination and grit to overcome complex challenges
Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
