Description

JOB SUMMARY:

To apply finishes to a variety of parts, assemblies and/or completed aircraft. May be required to assist higher grade painters.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working from oral and written instructions and established procedures, prepare painted surfaces, spray primers or various paint finishes to parts, assemblies or completed aircraft. Uses judgment in obtaining desired finish. Must determine appropriate paint technique per rack in order to avoid unfavorable paint conditions and scrapped material.

  • Uses spray gun, hand tools, Zahn cup and other complex measuring instruments.

  • Professionally applies paint to surface maintaining finish requirements acceptable to shop supervision and quality control. Must paint according to strict tolerance requirements per specifications. For refurbishment aircraft, applies chemical paint removers.

  • Adjusts and cleans spray gun and paint equipment or other company tools checked out for performing job assignments. Responsible for the maintenance and operation of all tools and equipment.

  • Monitors environmental conditions for alerts to maintain controlled environment. Must be aware of parameters e.g. humidity.

  • Responsible only for own work. Visual inspection of work performed in other process line areas. Must make time critical corrections as detected.

  • Required to perform in a job rotation with other Bond Prime Painters as a quality control checkpoint.

  • Performs other related duties as required such as sealing a variety of aircraft components.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Requires a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification.

EXPERIENCE:

Requires a minimum of one year aircraft spray painting or equivalent experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Particularly disagreeable working conditions due to ergonomic positioning, exposure to paint fumes, chromium, and full body PPE in warm conditions.

This role is eligible for up to a $15,000 (pre-tax) sign-on bonus based on level of experience. Terms & conditions apply. The Company reserves the right to amend or suspend this program at any time.
