Cargill Biodiesel Technician in Wichita, Kansas

The purpose of this position is to operate equipment associated with the biodiesel and glycerin crude processes. Technicians in this position are responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the biodiesel plant and the associated processes and loadout processes, biodiesel, utilities, and crude glycerin, with minimal supervision. They will ensure that the equipment is fully operational and in good repair. Interacts on a regular basis with plant technicians, supervisors, chemical truck drivers and finished product haulers. This role will be an exciting opportunity for the right individuals to become a part of a dynamic team, with opportunities to advance within Cargill.

Technicians will need to have very good time management skills, prioritize tasks and possess follow-up skills, accept accountability and demonstrate high performance (work performance, attendance record, safety record.)

Shift: 12 hours shift, working from 07:00 pm to 07:00 am

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Safely operate all equipment associated with the production process: including utilities, reactors, distillation, separators, and drying.

  • Systems, including monitoring and adjusting operations using computerized and controlled systems to meet departments requirements.

  • Safely manage loading and unloading of finished products and chemicals.

  • Trouble shooting problems as required and light maintenance using various hand tools.

  • Maintain a safe and sanitary atmosphere with a high regard for environmental impact of the operation by completing all housekeeping assignments, working to improve the condition of the department, and work as a team member with a positive attitude.

  • Attend various mandatory safety and department meetings.


  • Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.

  • Cargill requires employees be a minimum of 18 years old to work in a production facility.

  • Must have a valid/current driver’s license.

  • High School diploma or Equivalent.

  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including a respirator.

  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above).

  • Must be able to operate machinery and/or industrial equipment.

  • Ability to understand and communicate in English(verbal/written).

  • Basic use of a computer and typing skills.

  • Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice


  • Forklift certified.

  • Prior experience in production related work.

  • Experience with SAP or a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office software, with an emphasis on Excel and Word.

  • Working knowledge of inventory systems.
