Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
Provide support to the Real and Personal Property sections of the Sedgwick County Appraiser’s Office to fairly and equitably produce an annual appraisal roll to fund quality public services in our community.
Maintains land use data for mass appraisal purposes using GIS software and printed maps.
+ Performs changes and updates to GIS land use layer.
+ Provides number of acres for each different soil and land use type for mass appraisal purposes.
+ Updates printed land use maps to be current with GIS layer.
+ Corrects GIS land use layer to be consistent with the changes made to the GIS parcel layer.
Reviews and determines appropriate agricultural land use designations for mass appraisal purposes.
+ Uses GIS applications and data to compare current land uses to mass appraisal data.
+ Does field inspections for land uses that cannot be determined using GIS applications.
+ Assists with customer service and appeals of agricultural land.
+ Works with Residential-Agricultural department to stay current on processes and procedures.
Develops and provides maps and data to internal and external customers based on their requests and needs using GIS software.
+ Use GIS software to develop and provide maps and/or data.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent including or supplemented by typing, bookkeeping, and other business courses. Must have six months experience in GIS, real estate, or construction or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must attend and pass the Kansas Property Valuation Division’s Agricultural Land course. This is a driving position. Must have a vehicle registered in the State of Kansas to use on a daily basis. Must provide proof of valid vehicle insurance with current coverage in the State of Kansas. Must have a current valid non-restricted Kansas driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. One to two years real estate field appraisal experience. Has successfully completed the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) Course 101 Fundamentals of Real Property Appraisal and Course 102 Income Approach to Valuation.
