Responsibilities

Advanced Product Research & Technology – Ceramic Matrix Composite Manufacturing Engineer

As a CMC Manufacturing Engineer, you will work closely with a cross-functional team of engineers and technical analysts in the definition, development, and delivery of materials and prototype products. Using design for manufacturing skills and a lean mindset, you will provide manufacturing definition, perform part fabrication and ensure CMC development materials and processes are capable of high yield, high efficiency manufacture.

Work Location: Wichita, KS

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide manufacturing leadership to create producible ceramic and ceramic composite designs, materials and processes

  • Advance Technology and Manufacturing Readiness Levels (TRL / MRL) from concept to operational prototype

  • Provide manufacturing coordination between Research & Technology and Production, sharing knowledge, innovation and mentoring as related to advanced materials

  • Create and monitor project plans to achieve program goals within schedule and budget requirements

  • Build positive relationships with internal support disciplines, customers and suppliers

  • Produce tooling and composite manufacturing definition for test and demonstration articles and implement in a production representative environment

  • Write test plans, work instructions, reports, processes and specifications

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • US. Citizenship Required with the ability to obtain a security clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in aerospace, materials or mechanical engineering and 3+ years of experience manufacturing polymer or ceramic composite material systems in an aerospace or similarly regulated environment

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3D CAE/CAM of composite structures

  • Experience with the processing of Oxide based ceramic composites

  • CATIA or NX / Teamcenter, and FiberSIM experience

  • Experience with the machining and joining of composite materials and structures

  • Experience with mechanical testing of composites

  • Active Secret security clearance
