Occupational Summary

Newman University is a Catholic university named for John Henry Cardinal Newman and founded by the Adorers of the Blood of Christ for the purpose of empowering graduates to transform society. Our low instructor-to-student ratio and collaborative faculty contribute to a positive learning environment. The School of Education offers a program that prepares students for careers in education at the undergraduate and graduate level.

The university seeks applicants for the School of Education adjunct instructor pool at the Wichita, Western Kansas, Southeast sites for the 2019-2020 academic year. Compensation is a set rate per enrollment in a delivered course. Review of applications will begin immediately.

Adjunct faculty contribute to the enrichment of our curriculum and work collaboratively with our faculty with teaching, learning and assessment. Adjunct faculty teach in our teacher education program and in our graduate education programs.

Work Performed:

  • The following information is not meant to be all-inclusive. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary. Primary duties and responsibilities include:

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses as assigned in keeping with departmental, university and accreditation standards, policies and procedures.

  • Attend NU new employee orientation (if on main campus) and Education adjunct orientation at beginning of semester. Attend additional adjunct meetings as necessary.

  • Meet with Lead Instructor of assigned course a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the beginning of the course to review syllabus, course materials, etc.

  • Inform students of their progress by promptly returning assignments, quizzes, and examinations.

  • Submit mid-term and final grades on Jet Stream by designated deadline.

  • Utilize the Learning Management Systems ? i.e. BlackBoard, Taskstream, etc., and other technology as appropriate.

  • Report performance assessment data as required/requested.

  • Consult with program coordinators and the Dean of the School of Education regarding concerns.

Required Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills/Training:

  • Master?s degree in an area related to education.

  • Current Kansas Teaching License in the qualifying area

  • A minimum of three (3) years relevant successful teaching experience in PK12 schools.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field.

  • A record of successful teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level.

  • A minimum of five (5) years experience in the program for which the candidate wishes to be considered.
