2021 Internship - Experimental Software Engineer



Assesses software requirements and for creating and maintaining applications in support of instrumentation configuration and flight test data processing. This position is accountable for providing support and application development relating to new product development and certification, as well as related processes in the experimental flight test environment.


  • Interface with internal and external customers, including the Telemetry Data Station, Instrumentation, Flight Test, and other areas of Engineering.

  • Develop tools and processes in support of flight test data management, which may include instrumentation configurations, parameter calibrations, data conversions, data displays, processing automation, and analysis tools.

  • Ensure the quality, accuracy and traceability of all acquired data/

  • Enhance and update the process of Instrumentation and how data is collected and recorded.

  • Update& enhance the process of data conversion and how data is transformed from raw counts to engineering unit values.

  • Improve the process of data consumption and how data is viewed and used by others.

  • Assist in looking for areas of improvement in order to increase speed, increase reliability, increase accuracy, increase usability, reduce errors, and reduce complexity.



  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree from an ABET accredited institution in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other related engineering field.


  • Self-starter with good verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to develop good working relations by coordination, communication, and issue resolution with other engineering disciplines.

  • Object oriented programming experience, with Microsoft Visual Studio (VB and C#) preferred.

  • An understanding of databases, with Microsoft SQL Server preferred.

  • An understanding of WPF and XAML, PCM encoders, signal conditioning, data acquisition systems, and calibration techniques preferred.

  • Strong computer skills with MS Office Suite are required.
