The Staff Accountant assists with production of accurate and timely financial statements, cost reports and business metrics. They also assist with analysis of the profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow statements and provide analysis on business and monitors business performance.
Assist accounting team and other functions with month end closing of accounts and reporting of results to GKN and Melrose.
Assist with analysis of monthly financial results including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow.
Assist with monitoring of performance during the month.
Assist with timely and accurate responses to ad hoc or other inquiries from leadership, GKN or Melrose.
Assist with providing backup to payroll, payables, and receivable functions.
Assist with internal, external, and third party audits.
Prepare general ledger journal entries and supporting reconciliations.
Prepare and discuss reports of findings and recommendations with management.
Continuously improve processes to increase timeliness, accuracy and usefulness of business information and metrics.
Work with other functions and supervisors to develop internal controls to assure policies and procedures are designed to support the integrity of reported financial results and safeguarding of company resources.
Other tasks that may be assigned from time-to-time.
Bachelor’s degree with accounting major/emphasis required.
1+ years of accounting/finance experience (including internships) including understanding of preparation of financial statements and supporting reconciliations and knowledge of GAAP, required.
Advanced MS Excel and PC skills required.
Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.
Experience in a manufacturing environment desirable.
Experience with ERP systems.
Experience in accounts payable, receivable processing, and payroll.
Ability to learn various software applications.
Good work ethic.
Ability to work on multiple projects at a time.
Manage assigned tasks and projects to achieve timely and accurate completion.
Ability to work productively and harmoniously in a team environment, both on individual projects and in collaboration with others.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
GKN experience preferred.
