Aerotek CNC Machinist in Wellington, Kansas

Job Title: Machinist

Job Description

Join our team as a Machinist, responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders. You will craft metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines with exacting tolerances and dimensions. Your role involves interpreting blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and engineering specifications to determine the sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup. You will confer with engineers, production personnel, and other machinists to resolve machining or assembly problems. Additionally, you'll perform preventative maintenance on shop equipment, ensure items conform to blueprints and other specifications, maintain billable efficiency, and follow all safety rules to maintain a safe and audit-ready work area.

Hard Skills

  • Machining principles on materials ranging from stainless steel to magnesium

  • Machining processes, tools, and mathematics

  • Safe use of shop equipment, processes, and measuring tools

  • Microsoft Office Basics

  • CNC high level machinist skills

Soft Skills

  • Ability to make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds

  • Capability to measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining

  • Skill to fit and assemble precision parts into mechanical equipment and determine material, parts, and equipment required

  • Proficiency in working with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry

Job Type

This is a permanent position.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Wellington, Kansas.

Work Environment

You will work in a climate-controlled machine shop alongside a small team of about 8 machinists. The position is a direct hire opportunity with a 1st shift schedule from 7am-3:30pm.
