The Sourcing and Operations Engineering team moves fast and leverages key partnerships to drive technical innovation, high quality standards and cost-savings via a customized supply chain. The Technical Sourcing Manager is the primary technical contact for supplier engagement and will be expected to represent Facebook in industry forums. The Technical Sourcing Manager will work closely with the rest of the Commercial Sourcing team to drive the strategic sourcing decisions on a global basis. Working closely with the Engineering Team, the Technical Sourcing Manager will help develop, communicate and implement sourcing strategies and participate in supplier engagements with an overall focus of influencing technology roadmaps, maintaining long term supplier relationships and managing to the lowest total cost of ownership.
Develop, manage and refresh individual and customized technology roadmaps for ASIC Technology that influence sourcing strategies for FB’s ASIC and Custom Silicon programs including AI/ML or video transcoders.
Develop and maintain deep technical relationships with executive management at core technology suppliers. Lead the technical discussions with suppliers and provide the main point of contact for technical issues.
Maintain current knowledge of the technology and industry trends for AISC technology used in AI/ML and video transcoding and perform technical analysis and business due diligence on relevant Technology.
Influence supplier technology roadmaps to ensure Facebook’s architectural and technical requirements are met, in conjunction with a cross-functional team. Lead the creation and definition of future technology directions with cross-functional partners.
Provide technical, supplier expertise and consulting to cross-functional partners for technology migration and lower TCO.
Provide technical review and analysis, responses to supplier proposals and RFx's. Resolve all technical queries arising from the quote process.
Drive pre-POR evaluation of key technologies usability/suitability within the Facebook infrastructure.
Own technical expertise in supplier negotiations and provide review/input for product development including statement of work and master supply agreements.
BS in Electrical Engineering or related technical field or equivalent combination of education.
8+ years of technical experience in relevant ASIC technology areas or related industry.
Experience influencing stakeholders and business partners.
Knowledge of supplier technology roadmaps and a proven pragmatic approach to influencing supplier product roadmaps.
Proven experience moving from strategy to execution and delivering results.
Proven experience interfacing with and establishing technical relationships with senior management at suppliers.
Experience interfacing with internal and external partners in an entrepreneurial and cross-functional environment.
Proven results driven independent judgment while coordinating people and technical resources.
Experience in AI/ML accelerators.
Masters or Ph.D. degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering.
15+ years of technical experience in ASIC industry.
