Sunrun Staff Benefits Analyst in Topeka, Kansas

We are seeking an experienced Benefits professional to implement and run benefits programs at Sunrun. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver on key projects, deliverables and programs. The ideal candidate is a proven expert who can tactically translate strategy and execute into action and play a vital, hands-on role implementing and leveraging best practices.


  • Project manage, lead key initiatives, recommend and enhance current programs, policies, and processes

  • Help lead development and delivery of benefits education for the People (HR) organization, manager, executive management and/or employees

  • Help lead the annual benefits Open Enrollment process, including partnering with vendors/brokers/HRIS to manage employee communications, system development, prepare benefit plan materials, coordinate timelines and address employee questions

  • Coordinate, keep up to date on regulations and facilitate compliance related matters including (but not limited to) completion of Form 5500s, ACA filings, 401k annual audits, Summary Annual Reports, FSA/401k non-discrimination testing etc.

  • Provide exceptional service and liaise directly with employees to resolve questions

  • Provide vendor management ongoing support including by participating in regular status calls and strategic reviews, proactively identify areas for process improvement and assist with implementation of new initiatives

  • Coordinate with payroll, timekeeping, HRIS, finance and/or internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy of data, deductions, tracking, reporting and/or process improvements

  • Analyze benefits data and provide regular reports to management on utilization, costs, and employee satisfaction

  • Partner with the Benefits Director to launch a new wellbeing strategy

  • Perform other Benefits/People (Total) Rewards ad hoc projects as needed


  • At least 8+ years of expert level administration experience of employee health and welfare benefits including self-insured plans, legislation and retirement plans

  • Proven analytical & project management skills & ability to design clear processes

  • Expert level 2+ year working & project execution experience with Workday HRIS

  • Strong Google Workplace, Google Sheets and Excel skills (mastery of pivot tables, etc.)

  • Ability to communicate, partner, collaborate, and influence across a wide spectrum of functions

  • Highly entrepreneurial and comfortable working in a fast pace environment and ambiguous situations with autonomy and minimal guidance

  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) designation preferred

* The compensation for this role can go up to $125,000.00 for those candidates that meet the qualifications presented in this job description.

Starting salary/wage for this opportunity:

$87,847.00 to $117,058.00

Other rewards may include annual bonus eligibility, which is based on company and individual performance, short and long term incentives, and program-specific awards. Sunrun provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
