The Role: The Sr. Director of Strategic Sourcing will be the primary leader in defining SunPower’s future supplier engagement model and developing collaborative relationships with SunPower’s key suppliers. This position requires the ability to develop a multi-year plan to support SunPower’s rapid growth and build win-win relationships with core suppliers. This position will require constant interaction with SunPower’s executive leadership team and strong cross functional facilitation skills. The SunPower supplier management team is accountable for all direct material spend and identifying opportunities to improve SunPower’s cost structure. The Sr. Director and staff play a critical role in delivering SunPower’s annual EBIDTA goals and building a conscientious supply chain that lives up to SunPower’s social and environmental responsibility goals. A core responsibility for this leadership role is to develop an extremely detailed annual plan that mitigates risk within the SunPower supply chain. As global supply chains have experienced unprecedented turmoil over the previous several years, a successful leader in this role must have the ability to anticipate various risk areas within the solar supply chain and manage a comprehensive risk mitigation program covering all areas of the end-to-end supply chain. This leader will have the accountability and breadth of responsibility to develop a department strategy and manage resources independently to successfully execute the plan. This position will require the Sr. Director to have regular live engagement with suppliers which will involve domestic and international travel. The Sr. Director must also be capable of developing and mentoring a staff of professional procurement managers. Developing SunPower’s future talent and providing timely and effective coaching is amongst the most critical skill sets for this role. Strategic Responsibilities: + Developing and hiring the talent to ensure SunPower has the leaders to grow and evolve the business. + Creating a multi-year roadmap for supplier onboarding, end of life relationships, and sourcing activities that sustain SunPower’s competitiveness. + Leading SunPower’s supply chain risk mitigation program. This involves collaboration with SunPower legal, Social Responsibility, Product and Engineering teams, and regular engagement with SunPower executive leadership. + Developing the models to analyze future supplier opportunities, lower landed cost, and supplier expansion or dual sourcing plans. + Developing sophisticated cost modeling to understand supplier pricing at the bill of material level. + Taking a leadership role in supply chain sourcing sustainability, best in class processes for social responsibility and world class supplier audit capabilities. + Allocating time to continuous improvement programs. This includes being a leader in defining future supplier collaboration capabilities, innovations in inventory management capabilities, and being a thought leader in product development time to market. + Being an industry expert and constantly keeping up with trends in the solar industry through research or networking. Tactical Responsibilities: + Managing team performance through weekly and monthly business reviews + Overseeing department budget and approving all areas of department spend + Ensuring timely execution of supplier-related critical action items, by auditing direct reports and skip level reports where needed + Maintaining an ongoing supplier operational scorecard and providing executive sponsorship for critical corrective action topics. Minimum Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field. + Minimum of 15 years of combined experience in supply chain, procurement, operations, finance, or engineering. + Strong financial acumen, ability to lead projects with direct impact to the P&L. + Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing tenured procurement or supply planning professionals. + Considerable supplier negotiation experience with multi-national and/or publicly traded companies. + An expert in supplier Master Services Agreements + Proven track record for managing long-term cost reduction initiatives and department budgets. + Outstanding coaching ability for direct reports. + Prior leadership experience in either the Solar industry, or related technology industry Preferred Qualifications: + Experience leading new product development initiatives + Strong foundation in program management fundamentals + Background in supplier quality auditing processes + Experience conducting complex supply chain cost and delivery optimization modeling.
