Software Development Engineer in Test IV


Role Summary

· The SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) has broad software programming / technical expertise in several Financial Services and or Healthcare. Uses advanced software engineering / technical concepts and expertise to make material contributions to test design, coding and troubleshooting of software that meets product / customer specifications. Leads and participates in software test architecture design. Is considered the software test programming guru of assigned team(s) or product line.

· This is an SDET IV position in the Communications & Payments team for Consumer Payment Services Technology.

· Provides leadership to the Quality Engineering team, ensuring the team effectively delivers and integrates with the rest of QE organization.

· Works with the QE leadership team to optimize all of testing, enhance efficiency in testing and improve software quality for the overall organization. Looks to provide feedback, guidance, and help offer solutions to improve testing in the overall enterprise.

· Ensures standards and guidelines set forth by the C4E are followed by his / her respective team.

· Aides QE leadership in establishing a baseline of QE team performance, monitoring overall delivery metrics and ensuring the function is continually improving year over year.

Key Responsibilities

· Leads or serves as a strategic technical / software programming resource in the design and implementation of test software (automation) for applications, system architectures / framework or software test tools that achieve desired CHC, systems application and development functionality.

· Innovates to solves complex software engineering and technical problems.

· Adept at utilizing AI/ML QE tool stack to drive delivery within scrum teams.

· Influences the work of other teams, management decisions and/or several business processes to materially affect customer outcomes.

· Tracks key testing metrics and ensures regular and consistent communication of progress towards overall testing goals to IT core team and business stakeholders.

· Leads the QE team to achieve higher levels of competency, effectiveness and internal process improvement.

· Actively participates in all scrum ceremonies with peer group to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

· Looks for cross training activities within his/her own team, to build out further business and systems knowledge.

· Proven ability to drive technical and tactical innovation in the QE area, with proof of innovation in prior roles, promoting functional depth of testing, improving testing efficiency & effectiveness, and expanding the scope of testing to be more impactful.

· Looks to continually improve, and never feel like the team or function “has arrived” and is done improving. Looks to challenge the status quo and implement improvements.

Education / Training

BS in Computer Sciences/Engineering

Previous Experience

· Experience as a QE Lead in financial services and / or health care organizations is a requirement.

· Experience in transactional processing applications like Payments and Print a plus.

· Experience in product driven organization.

· 10+ years of relevant QE experience required, including Leadership experience.

· Experience working with and managing on and offshore resources both from a staff augmentation and managed services arrangement.

· Proven experience in significantly improving QE practices within an organization a definite plus.

· Proof of high emotional intelligence (EQ), with the ability to lead teams of a variety of backgrounds and experience levels.

Required Skills / Knowledge

· Possesses extensive knowledge and testing experience in distributed environments (including Cloud).

· Possesses extensive knowledge and experience in testing APIs, Service End Points in both distributed and Cloud.

· Experience in SCRUM, KANBAN, LEAN and SAFe methodologies on large complex Agile projects.

· Experience with Agile tools like Rally and JIRA.

· Good understanding with test tools such as Selenium/WebDriver, BDD/TDD frameworks.

· Proficiency experience in Java, Python, C#, .NET, JavaScript or other languages.

· Experience in continuously deploying and scheduling tests using Bamboo/Jenkins/GIT.

· Experience developing test frameworks and test scripts using open-source test frameworks is preferred.

· Technical background with a strong understanding of DevOps practices preferred.

· Experience with testing front-end and backend APIs of Web and Batch applications.

· Good understanding of RESTful API and SOAP web services.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Experience with test management tools (HP ALM, JIRA).

· Advanced knowledge of common software testing procedures and methodologies.

· Experience in leveraging on-shore / off-shore staffing for QE activities.

· Ability to contextualize testing activities against business strategy and technical delivery.

· Advanced knowledge of common testing procedures and methodologies.

· Familiar with new innovative trends or tools in the QE industry, with an ability to drive innovation across teams.

· Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

· Demonstrate good leadership by providing an objective, high energy, consistent work ethic that promotes respect for the individual.

· Collaborative but decisive personal style - highly effective communicator and problem solver.

· Ability to manage multiple competing priorities while driving resolution and getting results.
