About the Team

The Learning and Assessment division brings together two areas core to College Board\'s mission: understanding and improving student learning and achievement and providing high-quality assessments that open opportunities for all students. The division-comprised of a multidisciplinary group of experts providing data- and evidence-driven perspectives, insights, and innovation - also drives research that helps continuous improvement of our programs and services and measures their impact.

The division is made up of five departments of approximately 140 staff: Assessment Design and Development, Learning Engineering, Psychometrics, Research, and Strategy & Analysis.

About the Opportunity

As the Senior Vice President for Learning and Assessment, you have an analytical mind that enjoys diving into data, analytics, and research. You work with others to create strategy and act as an executive representative and culture driver for the teams that comprise the division. In this role, you will:

Strategy and Influence (50%)

  • Ensure evidence drives all programmatic and product development decisions across the enterprise
  • Provide strategic leadership on design and development of College Board assessment products: the SAT Suite of assessments, AP exams, CLEP, and ACCUPLACER
  • Represent the Learning and Assessment Division\'s work to internal and external stakeholders at companywide meetings, conferences, industry panels, etc.
  • Create, develop, and lead College Board\'s continuous improvement efforts at being a data-driven organization
  • Responsible for a US\$ 25+ million dollar budget for Learning and Assessment Division

Team Management (35%)

  • Effectively manage six direct reports to ensure they are supported, engaged, and working effectively toward accomplishing goalsin alignment with organizational priorities and mission
  • In partnership with Talent, oversee leadership development and engagement for staff while optimizing organizational structure and engaging in succession planning for key leadership roles
  • Build a culture that attracts and retains top talent for all positions within the division
  • Provide executive-level leadership to and represent an overall division of approximately 140 employees

Executive Leadership (15%)

  • Contribute to College Board\'s strategic decisions as a member of the Executive Leadership Team
  • Represent the Learning and Assessment division as a member of College Board\'s Executive Leadership Team
  • Identify priorities for the Learning and Assessment Division and work with senior leaders to execute on those priorities
  • Help Learning and Assessment\'s technical work be interpreted and internalized by staff across the organization

About You

You have:

  • 15+ years of relevant experience managing research, analytics, measurement, psychometrics, and/or assessment product development
  • Proven ability to lead execution of strategic projects through influence and leadership
  • Proven ability to set vision and direction and then manage others to meet aligned goals and metrics
  • Adept problem-solving skills, including using data to inform decisions and actions
  • Strong ability to interpret, synthesize, and communicate dense data and analytics to a wide range of audiences
  • Excellent verbal and written comm nication skills, including facilitating meetings and presenting remotely and to large groups, both internal and external
  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence others to action
  • Comfortable speaking with media, policymakers, and other influential figures
  • A passion for supporting educational and career opportunities for millions of students
  • Master\'s degree is required, PhD preferred
  • Authorization to work in the United States
