The secret of Cloud is that the Cloud itself still has to run on actual computers. In Substrate Compute, we are the silent heroes who build and operate the systems that interface with the machines so that the rest of OCI can build the Cloud. We handle new hardware ingestion, automated fault detection and repair, and internal compute provisioning. Our problem space spans flashing firmware on devices and base operating systems, to provisioning workflows. In Substrate we are the bottom turtle, without us there is nothing for the rest of the cloud to run.
