Required Skills:

Senior Firmware Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Lead Firmware Engineering activities and provide technical leadership and guidance to team members

  2. Analyze, design, develop, and debug firmware for a wide variety of AR and VR consumer devices, including novel sensing and imaging systems, haptic devices, and audio prototypes

  3. Understand and implement power-management, boot loaders, scheduling, and RTOS

  4. Collaborate in a team environment across multiple, product focused, research, and engineering disciplines, making the architectural tradeoffs required to rapidly deliver firmware solutions

  5. Support all phases of SoC/ASIC development – including early architecture requirements definition for custom silicon, firmware architecture, implementation, simulation, FPGA debug, chip bring up and support systems and software teams on algorithm development on validated systems

  6. Understand and drive implementation of FW development good practices across teams and projects

  7. Telecommute from anywhere in the U.S. permitted (remote work benefit)

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree or equivalent* in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Sciences, or a related field, and ten years of work experience in the job offered or a computer-related occupation. *Employer will accept a 3 or 4 year Bachelor’s degree. Requires ten years of experience in the following:

  2. Writing test code and production software

  3. Software designing and programming in C/C++ for development, debugging, testing and performance analysis

  4. Producing production quality, fail-safe drivers for real-time system control

  5. Peripherals such as USB, SPI, MIPICSI/DSI, I2C, UART, or GPIO

  6. Analyzing hardware and power consumption

  7. Hardware, clock-level issues, bridges, delays, interrupts, clock gating, or polling

  8. Instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, logic/protocol analyzers for debugging embedded systems at HW level

  9. Device documentation and translating information into software solutions

  10. Methods of designing experiments to diagnose embedded hardware and firmware problems

  11. Cross multi-disciplinary boundaries to drive system solutions
