SMX is seeking a Senior Data Architect/DBA to add domain expertise, and help SMX lead enterprise and government customers through their digital modernization journey. This person will have experience building and configuring resilient MS SQL Server clusters with both local and geographically distributed failover sites. This person must also be effective operating within a consulting team that will be helping drive transformation from our client’s current Waterfall methodology towards a DevOps and Agile framework to deliver software projects. The position requires a balance of expert MS SQL Server systems knowledge, working Agile knowledge (the process), combined with strong consulting, mentoring, documentation, and overall technical experience.
This is a temporary, 4-5 month role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Builds and configures an MS SQL Server implementation, leveraging both local and geographically distant clusters, for a high-throughput, enterprise-critical platform.
Conducts assessments to understand the complete picture of the organization’s current practices in database administration
Plan, document and manage the migration of the current state database to the new platform
Define, build, test and document a robust disaster recovery plan for the environment
Ensures best practices are tailored for customer environments and integrated with customer organizational processes.
Guides customers through achieving continuous integration, testing, and continuous delivery of the data platform.
Helps customers establish a DevOps culture and mindset and works with the Agile Transformation Coach to guide customers on associated Agile technical practices.
Work within a team and context where SMX is guiding a shift from project-to-product with a focus on Customer Centricity and Design Thinking as part of Agile Product Delivery.
Creates strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning.
Works with the Agile Project Manager to plan and schedule project deliverables, goals, milestones.
Designs and maintains project documentation.
Strong organizational, presentation, and customer service skills
Experience with multiple large data migrations into a resilient architecture
Experiencing in developing detailed data migration plans (more than one)
Will work with the Sr Cloud Architect -Tech Lead to ensure the developed database architecture will meet the needs of the database, processing etc.
Demonstrated expertise in business agility
Excellent writing, speaking, and interpersonal skills
Must be self- motivated, well organized and have strong innovation and facilitation skills
Well-developed critical and analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
Excellent meeting leadership and requirements gathering skills
Demonstrated ability as a flexible, process-oriented, logical thinker and team player
Experience with FAST Enterprises software –GenTax, FastDS-VS or others the RMV product for registering automobiles would be an advantage.
Prior experience working on AWS is preferred.
Former government or enterprise consulting experience a plus
