About the Job
We’re looking for an experienced senior cloud native software engineer for our engineering incubator team. You’ll be part of a team of experienced engineers who are building a next-generation platform for the energy industry with a heavy focus on massive data volume processing.
Our new platform is built directly on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) based on cloud native principles. We build to scale globally, leveraging state-of-the-art tooling, with zero downtime. As a senior software engineer, you’ll be responsible for building world-class software, leveraging automation whenever possible, mixed with many opportunities to contribute to the definition of early stage products.

What You’ll Make Happen
You are the builder here. You’ll create software that’s used by the world’s largest utilities as well as other innovative companies in the energy space.
You’ll be part of a product development team for new energy products. You’ll be surrounded by a team of smart, motivated, and diverse people and given the autonomy and support to do your best work. It is a dynamic and flexible workplace where you’ll belong and be encouraged.
You’ll contribute to ideas for how to architect our platform for scale.
You’ll be able to apply your expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in highly available distributed systems. If this is you, at Oracle you can help, shape, design and build innovative new systems from the ground up.
About You
3+ years of hands-on experience developing services on a public cloud platform (e.g., AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, Google Cloud)
2+ years of experience building and delivering large scale, highly available distributed systems. This should include some experience with multi-tenant infrastructure.
Deep experience developing with Java. Experience with multiple languages is preferred.
Deep experience with continuous deployment tools.
Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration technology is a plus.
You have a strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.
You’ve built rich tools and web apps for use by your team and other internal customers. You’ve made life easier for other developers and have motivated your teams to make both process and service improvements with your ability to automate and instrument properly to get the right data.
You are comfortable working at all levels of the technical stack.
You work backwards from the why. You care about creating reliable software that solves real problems.
You value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn. You understand that simple systems are easier to operate and fix.
You work well with everyone. You can lead a conversation in a room with engineers, managers and customers.
You are comfortable with ambiguity. You have a strong sense of ownership, and are able to drive projects to completion.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only
US: Hiring Range: from $94,200 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
