Position Summary:
The Second Chance Act Employment Specialist is responsible for assisting justice-involved individuals in securing meaningful employment. This role involves working with community partners, employers, and individuals to provide career counseling, job placement, and support services. The specialist will facilitate job readiness training, connect clients with resources, and track progress to ensure successful workforce reintegration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess client skills, work history, and career goals to develop individualized employment plans.
- Conduct job readiness training, including resume building, interview preparation, and workplace skills development.
- Establish and maintain relationships with employers willing to hire justice-involved individuals.
- Assist clients in identifying and applying for suitable job opportunities.
- Provide case management and follow-up support to ensure job retention and career advancement.
- Collaborate with community organizations, probation/parole officers, and workforce development agencies to coordinate services.
- Maintain detailed records of client progress and program outcomes.
- Advocate for policies and programs that support employment opportunities for justice-involved individuals.
