This job was posted by https://www.kansasworks.com : For more information, please see: https://www.kansasworks.com/ada/r/jobs/11299009 Position Summary:The position manages all aspects of the Kansas Fire Incident Reporting System (KFIRS)to include regulatory enforcement of reporting fire departments, submitting of data tonational database at United States Fire Administration (NFIRS), Department ofHomeland Security, administers the NFIRS software for reporting fire departments toinclude training and education of local fire departments to meet reporting requirementsand validation of quality of reporting and assists local fire departments with the NRIFSreporting side of Fire House software. Serves as administrative contact for the nationalfire incident reporting system of the United States Fire Administration and to the NationalFire Information Council. Provides technical support to over 600 plus fire departmentsincluding explaining coding methodologies, report generation and transaction file exports,travel to fire departments to train and setup necessary software. Work involves thevalidation of over 220,000 electronically received records annually. Creates user friendlyerror correction reports for return to fire departments with invalid records. Validation alsoincludes the use of KILRS to validate dollar losses as well as Kansas Department ofHealth & Environment death certificates verifying fire caused deaths. Ensures propersecurity and information release policies and procedures are followed when generatingreports, handling queries or providing database listings. Enters burn injury reports,Kansas insurance loss reports and Kansas fireworks injury loss reports into theappropriate database. This position has daily contact with the general public, local fireofficials, the insurance industry and other State Agencies.Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Daily/Weekly/Monthly Travel will be required, some being overnight
